John Tichotsky, Ph.D. (Cantab.) is Managing Partner of Alaska Capital, a company focused on investments in Alaska’s natural resources, infrastructure, aerospace, technology, and education sectors. Over three decades, he has specialized in the finance and economics of resource development, working across Alaska, Northeast Asia, Europe, and Central Asia. A former Chief Economist for the State of Alaska and Economic Advisor to the $43 billion Alaska Gasline Development Project, Dr. Tichotsky has led major international negotiations and advised governments, corporations, and institutions including the World Bank and USAID. A recognized Arctic expert, he has served as an advisor to the U.S. Arctic Research Commission and as a Research Associate at the Scott Polar Research Institute at Cambridge University. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. from Cambridge (Jesus College) and a B.A. from Dartmouth College, and has lived in Alaska since 1988 with his family.
Brian Gursky is the Principal of Alaska Capital, bringing a strong background in aerospace and defense innovation. Before founding Alaska Capital, Brian co-founded Cast Aero Components, a defense-focused startup, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and helped lead the company’s operational growth and strategic partnerships.

Brian earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, concentrating in Finance. He later completed graduate studies in Project Management at the University of Virginia.
A former collegiate athlete, Brian was a starting pitcher on the varsity baseball teams at both USC and UVA, earning All-Conference honors in his final season. Following his college career, he played professionally for two years in the New York Mets organization, an experience that shaped his leadership, discipline, and team-oriented approach to business.
